The Brooklyn War Memorial is a tribute to the men and women who served in World War II from Kings County, New York. It was constructed in 1951 and is located in Cadman Plaza Park in downtown Brooklyn. The memorial is made up of a 24-foot tall granite monument that features allegorical military figures and inscriptions honoring each branch of the armed services. The names of over 11,000 military personnel who died or went missing during the war are inscribed on the walls surrounding the monument.
